Osteria pirata
Building a complete brand world for a modern Italian restaurant.
Osteria Pirata needed an identity that felt rooted in Italian dining culture without relying on the familiar visual conventions of a traditional Italian restaurant. The opportunity was to create something more distinctive: warm, expressive, and full of personality, with enough structure to work across the restaurant’s physical and digital experience.
I led the creative direction across the brand identity, website, restaurant signage, environmental graphics, menus, packaging, and supporting collateral. The goal was to build a cohesive world that could capture the spirit of the restaurant before a guest ever walked through the door and carry that feeling through every detail of the experience.

THE WORK
An identity with a strong point of view
The Osteria Pirata brand needed to immediately establish the personality of the restaurant while remaining flexible enough to support everything from exterior signage to a printed menu.
We developed a visual identity that balanced the warmth and informality of an Italian osteria with a bolder, more unexpected sensibility. Typography, color, imagery, and graphic elements worked together to give the brand a sense of character without making it feel overly themed.
The result was an identity that felt specific to Osteria Pirata rather than interchangeable with another Italian restaurant.
A digital experience that set the tone
The website served as an introduction to both the food and the broader restaurant experience. It needed to communicate the atmosphere quickly while making essential information such as menus, hours, reservations, and location easy to access.
We created a digital experience that paired strong visual storytelling with intuitive navigation. Photography, typography, and brand details were used to build anticipation while keeping the site functional and direct.
The website became an extension of the physical restaurant, giving guests a clear sense of the brand before they arrived.
Restaurant signage and environmental branding
The identity was carried into the space through exterior signage, wayfinding, window graphics, wall applications, and other branded environmental details.
Each element was designed in conversation with the architecture and interiors so the branding felt embedded in the restaurant rather than added as decoration. The system created a consistent experience from the street to the table while giving the space its own recognizable presence.
A complete suite of guest-facing touchpoints
The brand came to life through the materials guests encountered throughout their experience, including menus, table collateral, takeout packaging, promotional materials, and digital communications.
The system extended across:
Primary and secondary brand marks
Restaurant and exterior signage
Website design
Menus and table materials
Takeout and food packaging
Environmental graphics
Digital and social content
Promotional and event collateral
Every application was designed to reinforce the same tone and point of view, creating a restaurant experience that felt considered at every scale.
A flexible system built to evolve
Osteria Pirata needed more than a launch identity. The brand had to support changing menus, seasonal promotions, events, social content, and the day-to-day realities of operating a restaurant.
We created a flexible visual toolkit that provided consistency without making every application feel identical. The system gave the restaurant room to evolve while maintaining the personality and recognition established at launch.
