Capital one Center

Building and stewarding a cohesive brand across an evolving mixed-use campus.

Capital One Center is a large, multidimensional campus with a constant rhythm of openings, events, partnerships, and public experiences. The challenge was to create a brand that could hold all of it together.

Over seven years, I managed and evolved the Capital One Center brand across digital, environmental, experiential, and promotional touchpoints. The work needed to feel cohesive at every scale, from major building wraps and campus wayfinding to event marketing and day-to-day communications.

I led the creative direction and ongoing brand stewardship, building a flexible visual system that could support the campus as it grew without losing its identity.

THE WORK

A cohesive visual world for a complex destination

Capital One Center needed to communicate as one connected place while serving many different audiences and experiences.

The campus brings together offices, hospitality, dining, entertainment, retail, residential spaces, and public programming. Each initiative had its own objective, but all of it needed to feel recognizably part of the same brand.

I established and maintained a consistent visual language across typography, color, imagery, layout, and messaging. The system created continuity without making every execution feel identical, allowing the brand to flex across audiences, seasons, and formats.

Seven years of brand stewardship

This wasn’t a one-time identity project. It was an ongoing creative partnership that evolved alongside the campus.

As new venues opened and programming expanded, I directed how the brand adapted across campaigns, events, signage, digital content, and physical environments. I worked closely with stakeholders across marketing, development, property management, hospitality, and events to ensure every new initiative strengthened the larger brand.

The result was a system that could grow with the campus rather than needing to be reinvented for every launch or activation.

Wayfinding designed for clarity and consistency

On a campus of this scale, signage needed to do more than identify a location. It had to create a clear and intuitive experience for employees, residents, visitors, hotel guests, and event attendees.

I led the creative direction for wayfinding and environmental signage across the property, balancing functional navigation with the visual identity of the campus.

The system extended across directional signs, building identification, parking and arrival points, pedestrian routes, temporary event signage, and other environmental touchpoints. Each piece was designed to feel integrated into the campus rather than operating as a separate layer.

Large-scale window wraps across the campus

Window wraps became one of the brand’s most visible and flexible tools.

I oversaw creative for installations spanning the campus, using large-scale graphics to activate vacant storefronts, promote upcoming destinations, support seasonal campaigns, and transform construction areas into intentional brand moments.

Because these applications occupied such a significant portion of the physical environment, they had to work both individually and as part of the larger visual system. The designs brought energy and continuity to the campus while helping communicate what was coming next.

Event activation marketing

Events played a central role in turning Capital One Center from a development into an active destination.

I directed the visual identity and marketing materials for a wide range of campus programming, from seasonal celebrations and community events to openings, performances, and larger public activations.

The work extended across:

  • Event identities and campaign concepts

  • Digital and social promotion

  • Posters, banners, and printed collateral

  • On-site signage and wayfinding

  • Environmental graphics

  • Stage and activation materials

  • Partner and sponsor applications

  • Post-event communications

Each activation had its own personality while remaining clearly connected to the Capital One Center brand.

A system built for many teams and touchpoints

The scale of the campus required a brand that could be used consistently by multiple internal teams, vendors, partners, and production resources.

I helped establish the creative standards, templates, and working systems needed to maintain quality across a high volume of ongoing work. This created enough structure to protect the identity while still allowing the brand to respond quickly to new events, openings, partnerships, and business needs.

The result was a recognizable campus experience that remained cohesive across seven years of growth and change.
